The Power of Video On Demand

We’re currently hard at work on editing Bob Davis’ first ever training video (see preview video below). One of the exciting aspects of this project is that in addition to the typical DVD, we will also sell it in downloadable segments. As far as I know, there are no other photography related training materials sold in this way. So we’re breaking new ground. And I’m sure we won’t be the last. As more people get high speed Internet access, and with the advancements of web video technologies, I suspect you’ll see a lot more video training materials delivered in this manner. And we’ll probably see professionals convert their current libraries to this model as well.

Here are the top six reasons for getting rid of your inventory by selling your videos as downloadable files or pay-per-view:

  • No more storage costs
  • No more shipping costs (to you or your client)
  • No sales tax headaches
  • No more inventory accounting headaches (this alone makes it worth the investment)
  • Instant gratification for your customers
  • Capture customers you normally wouldn’t get at full price.

As Timothy Ferris talks about in his NY Times best-seller The 4 Hour Work Week, one of the paths to joining the “New Rich” (as he calls it), is creating revenue streams that require little to no effort on your part to manage. A downloadable video for sale is a great example of that. If you currently have a set of training materials on DVD that you’d like to sell online, give us a call (707.237.5138) or send us an e-mail.

A MASTER’S APPROACH

If you’re interested in being added to Bob Davis’ e-mail list to be notified when the DVD is ready, send an e-mail to his wife and partner Dawn. In the meantime, check out the short preview video we created for it.
