YouTube superstars aside, very few filmmakers get the opportunity to create a video that goes viral once, let alone twice. Today’s guest has done just that. His first viral claim to fame was creating the iPad + Velcro video that Apple loved so much they actually added it to their site (that’s huge. Having done work for Apple and having a wife who used to be employed by them, I know first hand how amazing that is. To have them include User Generated Content on their site is unheard of. Truly a remarkable feat).
Now he’s done it again. The “he” I’m talking about Jesse Rosten, a commercial film director living in Redding, CA who last week uploaded “Fotoshop by Adobé,” a hilarious and satirical look at the fashion and beauty industry and the role that computer technology plays in perpetuating false images of beauty. In one week it has gotten over 2.7 million views on Vimeo and over 1.5 million on YouTube.
Jesse was on Crossing the 180 last March to talk about that iPad video and his career. Definitely make sure you check that out if you get a chance. Today he tells us how he came up with the idea, the behind the scenes making of it, how (and if) these videos have helped his career, and what he’s up to next.
As usual, you want to stay past the end credits. Today we have a treat that had me in stitches! :)
Featured Artist, More Lens Tips and Zacuto’s Shows
Also today we’re honored to have the Steve Weiss himself on the show to talk about all the amazing shows they’re producing at Zacuto and what you can expect next.
We also have Mike Duval back from LensProToGo. Today Mike talks some more about using Zeiss compact primes. Consider this a part 2 to last week’s segment.
Lastly we have the first in a series of featured artists from Triple Scoop Music. I’m really excited about this segment because it’ll be fun to share some amazing bands I’ve found on their site and give you some ideas on how to incorporate them into your productions. I feel like a real radio DJ!
