Crossing the 180: The Filmmakers Podcast that Breaks the Rules
After 2.5 years of producing F-Stop Beyond, a podcast geared towards photographers that got up close and personal with some of the biggest names in the business, I decided I wanted to do the same within my own industry of filmmakers. Like FSB, guests run the gamut from the obvious to the obscure. Established professionals in Hollywood like X-Men producer Ralph Winter, or Terminator: Salvation DP Shane Hurlbut; Book of Eli co-director Albert Hughes; 24 DP Rodney Charters; to social media juggernauts like international cinematographer and HD DSLR guru Philip Bloom and DSLR filmmaking trailblazer Vincent Laforet; to amazing short film filmmakers like fellow Atlanta local Brandon McCormick of Whitestone Motion Pictures or “Everything is a Remix” creator Kirby Ferguson; and even wedding and event filmmakers like wunderkind and USC film grad Kevin Shahinian or Patrick Moreau of StillMotion.
Also like FSB, what separates X180 from the gazillion other podcasts out there about filmmaking is that it is first and foremost a personal interview. Sure, we’ll talk tech and shop, but the main goal is to get to know these filmmakers in a way you don’t normally. To learn what makes them tick. And in that, gain a greater insight into their talent and craft.
