ReFocus Hits the Streets

refocus-webWednesday night we got home to a wonderful surprise. Our copies of ReFocus: Cutting Edge Strategies to Evolve Your Video Business were waiting for us at the neighbor’s. This was our first time getting to see the books in person. Wow! PeachPit Press really out-did themselves. It’s so amazing to have a 4-color, 260+ page book by a major publisher on the topic of event and corporate video production and marketing. Again we are so honored.

I am so excited for my colleagues to start reading this book. I was reading through the introduction and forewords again last night and getting inspired: and I co-wrote it!

The book also comes with special offers. Once you purchase the book, you get instant access to it online for 45 days at Safari Books Online. The code and access URL is at the back of the book. Also, Event DV is offering all book purchases a one year subscription for only $17.95 (regularly priced at $29.95).

I thought it would be fun to share a short section of the foreword by Digital Juice founder and CEO David Hebel.

A wise man once said, “Change is the only constant.”  This bit of practical wisdom is more relevant today than ever before.  It is especially applicable to the competitive video business where technology and equipment need constant update and clients demand the latest creative style or look.  But in the race to keep up with rapidly changing technology and ever evolving styles we often forget about the changes needed in other areas of the business that are just as important and in many cases more vital to growth and success.

What I love about Ron and Tasra’s book is their emphasis on the need to change, really, to evolve the whole of your video business.  There are times and situations in business that demand radical change in a very short period of time.  In fact, incorporating the concept of continual, methodical, evolutionary change every single day is the only way I’ve found in the seventeen years of running my company, Digital Juice, to keep the business relevant to the needs of my customers and thus successful…

…Ron and Tasra have written a book that will help you do just that.  They will get you thinking creatively and strategizing effectively how best to grow and evolve your business in new and exciting directions that will keep you ahead of the competition and relevant to your customers, thus allowing you to enjoy the many rewards that come from owning your own business

The rest of his foreword is equally inspiring. As is the foreword by Zacuto co-founder Steve Weiss.

Gosh, I wish I could copy and paste the whole book for you, but my publisher would probably take umbrage to that. So, this will have to suffice for now. However, you can read another excerpt from the marketing chapter at Event DV online. It’s on building a successful brand.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this book. We couldn’t have done it alone.

  1. Hey Ron – following your advice in the book I moved my blog to wordpress from blogger. It took a few hours but I’m already glad I did and have started to link my blog posts to linkedin and facebook.

For the video business class I’m teaching in November that REFOCUS is required reading we’re going to create a class blog and have the students contribute and go nuts with linking to their existing and new social networks. I’m hoping it will create a nice legacy site that they can continue to be active in and that can be part of their overall SEO strategies when they go into business for themselves.
