I’m jazzed to start a new series on the podcast this week: “The Power of Personal Work.” We have at least three guests over the next few weeks whose personal projects will inspire you. In many cases, their personal work has led to world-wide fame.
First up is Eliot Rausch. Eliot is the director of “Last Minutes with Oden,” a powerful documentary short that took the “best in show” award at the inaugural Vimeo Film Festival two years ago (Eliot returns this year as a judge). This is one of the most powerful interviews I’ve ever had. His passion and commentary about his craft and what drives him as an artist nearly moved me to tears. It’s interviews like this that make this show special to me. I hope you find it as encouraging as I did.
Director Eliot Rausch is leading the charge in a new generation of young filmmakers with his compelling documentary style that pries at the heartstrings and reveals the humanity in each of his subjects. With his work being shown in a variety of platforms, Rausch is also completely hands-on, both directing and editing his work. As a filmmaker, he has a rapidly growing fan base, with critical recognition coming from both the advertising industry and the online film community.
Tips, Tricks and Education for Filmmakers
This week Mike Duval is back from LensProToGo talking about renting equipment vs. buying. I think you will find his answer refreshingly UN-biased considering he works for an equipment rental company. 🙂
This we finally get Triple Scoop Music CEO Roy Ashen to come on the show and give us the “scoop” (pun intended) on how to legally license music for your films and videos.
Enter Drawing for Free Music
Each week we will also give away a free song from Triple Scoop Music (a $60 value). All you have to do is tweet one of these two lines…
Hey @daredreamermag, the featured @triplscoopmusic artist this week on @crossingthe180 is NAME
Hey @daredreamermag, the featured @triplscoopmusic song this week on @crossingthe180 is NAME
Replace NAME with the name of the artist or the song. It doesn’t have to be the artist’s Twitter name, but if you DO find and include their Twitter handle, I’ll enter you twice! You have to enter the tweet exactly like this so that I know you’ve done it and because there’s no “e” in Triple Scoop Music’s twitter handle. Your best bet is to copy and paste. Do this throughout the week and on next week’s show I’ll announce the winner. You can do this every week until further notice.
The featured song this week is “If I” by Curious.
Triple Scoop Music is also offering a discount on your next purchase. You gotta listen to the episode to find out the code.
