Salomon Ligthelm on Crossing the 180 #96

salomonligthelmToday we have another filmmaker from down under. He is one of those filmmakers whose work I keep coming back to time and time again. It’s emotive. It’s engaging. It’s personal. It has a signature look. And he routinely gets tens of thousands of views for each video uploads to Vimeo. He’s the Sydney, Australian-based filmmaker Salomon Ligthelm. His work is so amazing, the NY production company Variable (who are pretty amazing in their own right) frequently look to collaborate with Salomon. But Salomon is also amazing because he not only shoots and edits, but does sound design, music scoring, and amazing color grading. And to think he only started shooting video late 2009. On this episode we learn about how Salomon got into filmmaking (his training is in sound engineering), the process he goes through when producing his films, his take on his signature style, working with Variable (and how that all got started), and much more. So throw some shrimp on the barbi mate, and let’s get crackin’!
