Last week I gave my top 5 bold predictions of 2015 for the world of professional filmmaking and photography. But there were some predictions I didn’t mention because I felt they were, well, just a little TOO bold. But given the huge reactions to last week’s list, I thought I would also share with you some of these, how shall we say…”more adventurous” predictions.😉 Enjoy.

#10. Go 30K or Go Home

RED Cinema releases their 30K “Hydra” camera and poo-poos all you schmucks still shooting in 6K (or heaven forbid, 4K).

#9. Peter Jackson Goes in the Other Direction

Spurred by all the flack he got for making three, 2.5+ hours movies from a book that is shorter than the first book of the 3-book series for which he also made three 2.5+ hour films, Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson decides to make a 30-minute, made for TV adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Silmarillion.” He shoots it in Super 8.

#8. Tarantino Gives Up Filmmaking

Fed up with all the ugly digital filmmaking and the death of film, Tarantino makes good on his word, gives up filmmaking, and becomes an adjunct professor at AFI teaching the history of Hong Kong cinema 1934-1969.

#7. Canon Finally Gives Us 60 FPS at 1080p

Threatened by the popularity of 4k mirrorless cameras that can shoot 4K, Canon finally gets their act together and at least gives us 60 FPS at 1080p. [Wait: I just realized this already happened. Doh! My bad. Read on to my new #7].

#7 (ver. 2) Canon Goes Mirrorless

Threatened by the popularity of 4K mirrorless cameras that can shoot 4K, Canon releases their C line of 4K mirrorless cameras. The cameras start at $8,995 US.

#6. Dave Dugdale for President?

All around nice guy and self-effacing filmmaker, instructor and YouTube personality Dave Dugdale announces that he will run for president in the 2016 election. (Okay. Maybe this is a little much. But come on, don’t you really wish this  would happen?.🙂 )

#5. Sir Philip Bloom

Philip Bloom achieves every Englishman’s ultimate dream, and is knighted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth due to his work with Movember. He later announces his run for Prime Minister with the Labor Party (See my parenthetical comment in #6).

#4. A New National Anthem Melody

Tony Anderson’s “The Father’s Heart” is adopted as the new melody for the United States national anthem. The Music Bed goes public just off the elementary school royalties alone.

#2. Tarantino Turns Around

Realizing that teachers make didly-squat, Tarantino gives up teaching and decides, “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.” He makes his first feature film shot with RED’s new Hydra and becomes the new poster child for digital capture in the motion picture industry.

#1. Drama and Turmoil in the Industry

Some high-profile filmmaker and/or photographer will say or do something that pisses a lot of people off. People spend untold hours on Facebook groups and industry forums debating, lambasting, whining, etc. Approximately $48,151,623.42 in productivity is LOST.

Do you have any wild and zany predictions for 2015? Share them in the comments and be entered into a drawing to win one of RED’s new 30K cameras.😉
