Next to your portfolio, your about page is perhaps the most important part of your website. It is where clients will connect with you and determine what it’s like to work with you. Yet as important as this page is, it’s amazing how many small businesses spend very little time or resources on making their about page sing. Let me help you sing.
I’ll send you a questionnaire to fill out that will give me a picture of your business and its objectives. I’ll also spend time looking at your work and speaking with you on the phone about the responses to the questionnaire. Once that is all said and done, I’ll get to work writing an about page that will support your brand and connect with your potential clients. Click here to read how I worked with one spunky United Kingdom based wedding and portrait photographer to dramatically evolve her about page. (The process of redeveloping her about page was actually part of a full-blown coaching session series).
Will It Be Authentic?
No doubt the biggest question you probably have about having someone else write your about page is, “Will it be authentic? Isn’t it weird or even dishonest to have someone else write my about page?”
That’s a fair question. However, the practice of having a third-party write prose on your behalf has been around for ages. Celebrities and politicians have professional speech writers. Many famous authors have ghost writers. Large corporations will have professional marketing and branding firms write their copy. Fortune 500 executives have PR professionals who tell them what to say.
The question you need to ask yourself is: do I have the writing, branding and marketing skills necessary to write a powerful and effective about page that will help me win clients? If you think the answer is “no,” then it’s both wise and good business to invest in a professional to write one for you.
There are two options available for you. The first is one page about you or your business. The other option is a separate bio for each (you AND your company). This option is best for larger studios where there’s an advantage to highlight the owner as well as the company.
- One About Page Bio – $250
- Two pages (for you and your company) – $375
